Senior Department of Homeland Security officials and former high-ranking Federal Bureau of Investigation agents reportedly warned Congressional leaders of “imminent danger” at the border due to President Joe Biden’s immigration policies.
Addressed to Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and other congressional leaders, the letter warns that the country “has been invaded” and that this invasion will not stop “as long as the nation’s enemies perceive it will be tolerated.”
Signed by 10 retired executive intelligence officials in the DHS and the FBI, the open letter represents the latest and clearest sign that the United States’ intelligence community is unhappy with how the Biden administration has been handling the crisis at the southern border. (Related: Abbott declares the federal government HAS FAILED TEXAS by refusing to protect the border and defend against migrant invasion.)
“Until [the migrant invasion] is stopped, the United States is extraordinarily less safe and secure,” the intelligence community veterans warned. “Knowing all of this, it would be a shameful travesty if some terrible attack, a preventable attack, were to occur against innocent Americans or the infrastructure that keeps the nation safe and functioning. The government will have failed grievously in its duty to protect.”
In the letter, these intelligence community veterans warn that the horde of people pouring into the U.S. from across the border represents a grave threat to the country’s security. They point out that, in its modern history, the U.S. has never had to deal with an invasion of the homeland – “and, yet, one is unfolding now.”
“Military-aged men from across the globe, [including] many from countries or regions not friendly to the United States, are landing in waves on our soil by the thousands – not by splashing ashore from a ship or parachuting from a plane but rather by foot across a border that has been accurately advertised around the world as largely unprotected with ready access granted,” warned the intelligence veterans in the letter.
“It would be difficult to overstate the danger represented by the presence inside our borders of what is comparatively a multi-division army of young single adult males from hostile nations and regions whose background, intent, or allegiance is completely unknown,” they added.
In light of the dire situation and the threat to the nation, these figures argue that it is only reasonable for political figures like Texas Gov. Greg Abbott “to assert that the country possesses dramatically diminished national security at this time” given the attitudes to the border crisis shown by the Biden administration.
They further point out that, while it would not be easy to resolve the crisis, the answer to dealing with it is simple enough: By enforcing the nation’s laws, using the country’s strong military and law enforcement capabilities, and taking advantage of “other natural protective barriers that have provided traditional security in the past” that are currently being “thoroughly circumvented” due to the laxness of enforcing the country’s laws.
