(NaturalNews) Billionaire real estate mogul and leading GOP presidential contender Donald Trump broke an unwritten rule, so to speak, when he said in July that former Navy fighter pilot, Vietnam POW and current long-serving U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., was not a “war hero” for being shot down and captured.
But Trump wasn’t done. He went on to accuse McCain of “doing nothing” for the nation’s military veterans except “talk.”
On the first charge, other Republicans running for the nomination quickly denounced Trump; on the second charge, most have remained silent.
Perhaps because they believe the Trumpster is at least right on his second point. And the thing is, they’re not alone.
“Detain McCain”
As posted on the website of The Pete Santilli Show, a program broadcast Monday through Saturday on this Brighteon channel as part of the Guerilla Media Network, a movement calling itself “Operation Detain McCain” seeks to hold the senior Arizona senator “accountable” for “shameful acts” against U.S. veterans.
“Mission: On September 5th (and until McCain responds appropriately) U.S. Military Veterans will descend upon Senator John McCain’s office in Phoenix, Arizona at 2201 East Camelback Road Suite 115 Phoenix, AZ 85016 to demand that he be held accountable, arrested, tried and convicted for his shameful acts against the Veterans of the United States,” says the post.
“Homeless Veterans will march upon McCain’s office and fellow Veterans will demand that unless Senator McCain doesn’t immediately alleviate their homelessness, homeless Veterans will be encouraged to camp out and live at his office indefinitely as a visual reminder of his willful negligence,” the post continued. “This will be a peaceful event intended for Veterans to bring awareness to John McCain’s despicable negligent conduct as a U.S. Senator.”
Also, as the post notes, vets plan to hold McCain for the following as well:
— for “[a]iding & abetting” a U.S. enemy in the “war on terror” – specifically, meeting with, helping to supply and otherwise assist and support ISIS and Al-Qaeda in Syria;
— for a failure to “rectify inadequate and incompetent healthcare by the Veterans Administration,” which resulted “in further injury and/or death to war fighter veterans” suffering from PTSD and TBI (traumatic brain injury);
— for “[i]ntentionally, willfully” being “directly involved in the cover-up of evidence regarding the attack on the U.S.S. Liberty by the Israeli military” (this occurred on June 8, 1967, during the Six-Day War; McCain was a POW at the time); and
— for abandoning untold members of POW/MIAs from the Vietnam War (as noted in this account, McCain – whose father was an admiral at the time of his capture – repeatedly refused an early release from captivity, and in fact noted that POWs should be released in the order they were captured).
‘Lip service’
The post says that on Sept. 5, “oath-keeping veterans,” members of “Citizen’s Militia,” “patriots” and surviving members of the U.S.S. Liberty will caravan cross-country to McCain’s Phoenix office.
“This operation is intended to detain John McCain for crimes against the United States of America, particularly against our nation’s veterans,” the post says.
“Some of our Veterans are homeless, injured or maimed, suffering from PTSD & TBI, dying on VA waiting lists, having their guns taken away, being stripped of their dignity and 22 Veterans commit suicide everyday!” the post continued. “It’s time for ALL AMERICANS of every race, creed, color and political persuasion to stand up and hold John McCain accountable as an elected official.”
In a letter to McCain, Santilli – a former U.S. Marine – said he was “fed up” with McCain’s “’lip service’ & negligence” to and of veterans, adding that he’s had “plenty of time” to address a myriad of veterans’ issues.
He also asked McCain to meet with those who plan to besiege his Phoenix office.
